The department of Microbiology was established in 1983 to impart knowledge of health and Medicine in rural tribal area of Chandrapur district. Initially with very few students now it has flourished with more number of students which are serving in various field across the globe. The first faculty of the department Dr. PH Kumbhare and Dr. SD Patankar have served the department and strive hard in development and success. The mission of the Department of is to educate and train students in the discipline of Microbiology and to expand the body of knowledge of this scientific field through research. The specific goals of the Department are to:

·        Offers undergraduate course in Microbgy and Biotechnology.

·        Prepare graduate students (M.S. and Ph.D.) with in-depth knowledge and research skills for professional careers in Microbiology.

·         Enhance opportunities for research and scholarship for undergraduate students.

·        Preserve, add to, evaluate, and transmit knowledge in the field of Microbiology; and

·        Serve society by promoting science in Rural Tribal area of district.
